Trust, Integrity & why LINK is backing iCIRT

LINK has always put the value of trusted relationships at the centre of our philosophy.

This holds true not only for sales partners, developers & builders but equally importantly - the consumer. Buying a new home, or investing in a property is, for most people, one of the most momentous decisions they make in the course of their lives. Trust & accountability is central to this, which is why LINK has been an active & vocal supporter of the iCIRT system.

Over recent years market-wide concern driven by the methods of a number of sub-standard operators has had a negative impact on the industry as a whole. The fact that these entities are not representative of the wider industry is unfortunate and the perception of broader problems is very powerful and is picked up in the national press time and time again. Which is why a rigorous & standardised certification system for the construction industry is welcome.

The iCIRT system has been designed in collaboration with the public & private sectors and we are pleased to see our trusted partners engaging with this process. It is a win-win for the industry. Three main assessment levels are offered, which are designed to accommodate the range of different parties using the iCIRT service Gold, Silver & Bronze, each of which denote the level of scrutiny, Gold being the highest level of detailed assessment where the business and/or build team have fully participated and provided all requested disclosures for a more comprehensive business review, including all key person consents in order to perform an expanded array of background checks.

The iCIRT process is centred around the attainment of a certification, and further detail is added in the form of a star system between 1 - 5 stars. iCIRT provides a star-rating outcome based on an aggregated assessment of the underlying data, scores and weights of individual attributes across six (6) assessment criteria. The criteria are Character, Conduct, Capital, Capability, Capacity & Counterparties. Detailed explanations are available from Equifax for each of the sub-categories of these criteria.

The certification system is designed to improve trust and confidence in buildings & building professionals, reduce the value impairment for new builds, reduce exposure to construction insolvencies, reach a position with fewer building defects in developed assets, improve consumer & workplace safety and build more sustainable outcomes. LINK has taken the important business decision to always place the customer at the centre of our decision making, therefore, LINK will only partner with developers and builders who have made a firm commitment to attaining an iCIRT rating, or who have already received an iCIRT rating.
